We had a wonderful time in Santa Fe but time to hit the road again. Today and tomorrow are mostly road days with the goal today near Bellevue, Tx about 535 miles down the road. Every time I travel across the country I am awed by the changing scenery. Flat plains, rolling hills, scrub plants and tall trees. Weather is warm and dry and we make very good time settling in at the Campers Paradise RV park in Sunset, Tx. Park had good reviews and was good in every sense of the word EXCEPT the wifi. It was sooo sloooow the old dial up modems were faster. Couldn't even get email. IF wifi is important don't stay here but otherwise very nice park with very friendly staff.

Thursday was a more interesting day as we started out on US 287 and relied on Garmin to get through the Dallas - Fort Worth area. She did an amazing job. We jetted across Tx into La and continued until we got to Jackson, Ms where we turned SW on US 49. As we drove through La we encountered torrential rains on and off sometimes so severe visibility was measured in feet rather than miles. We continued towards Magee where we thought we had a park picked out but the directions led us to a dead end road. I decided we would continue closer to Hattiesburg where we chose the Okatoma Resort and RV Park. They didn't have wifi for overnighters but it was a very nice park. Folks were fishing in the lake it butted up to. They were fishing for "brill" a fish I never heard of. We no sooner got into our spot and put the trailer up and we got hit with a torrential thunderstorm. Lightning and thunder and just a spectacular storm. Fortunately we were setup. Short drive tomorrow to Gulf Shores and we will be landed there for about 9 days.

Since the distance today is short we are slow in getting on the road. Latest departure yet at 8:00. Once again we decide to let Garmin direct us as we want to avoid Montgomery. A traffic accident just before the tunnel on I-10 slows us down a little but once moving we cruise along Mobile Bay home of the USS Alabama.
Might have gotten a better shot if I had stopped for the picture but I didn't. We toured the Alabama four years ago when we visited this area coming back from our holiday trip in 2016. We continued down meeting up with my brother just before noon. He led us to his son's place where we will park the trailer for the time here, complete with electric power. We unhooked and made our way to their condo. After unpacking the truck we relaxed the remainder of the day grateful to have arrived. The next travel day will be July 6. At least now we have excellent internet.

Glad you are safe and sound!
