July 2
Things are getting busy as we approach the 4th. So we, being more like locals than tourists, are being more quiet. Today we joined a good friend of my brother's at the Wolf Bay Lodge for lunch. Deb had a very nice gumbo. I suffered with yet another excellent hamburger. It was nice seeing Dan whom I had met 4 years ago. A good time was had before he went back to work and we went back to lounge by the pool at the condo.
July 3
Today is Seafood day as we promised Deb a seafood meal. The destination was the Angry Crab. Deb had a twin lobster rool and it was almost as sweet as the lobster we had in Maine 2 years ago. This lunch didn't contain quite as much lobster but it was good. I had a crabcake and shrimp sandwich. Normally crab cakes are a bit smaller around but this one was packed with big bites of shrimp and bigger around than the hamburger bun it was on. We also split a cup of gumbo which Deb rated even better than the one she had yesterday. The food was excellent.
Leaving the Angry Crab we headed for the border of Alabama and Florida. There is a unique bar restaurant there that spans the border and is Called Flora-Bama.
There are multiple rooms each with a stage and a different genre of music being played. The ability to move around was limited due to covid restrictions but we managed to view different areas including the one small room that had hundreds of women's bras hanging from lines stretched through the bar.
The room we were actually seated in was an indoor/outdoor area with the pictured country singer. There they had picnic tables and most had been autographed by the many visitors from all over.
July 4
Happy 4th of July everyone!
Today we know the crowds will be large and traffic horrible. Still I was told I had to go get the World's Best Hamburger. As good as those as I have had so far, this one was said to be better, so off we went to the KEG.
Indeed it was a very good burger. Deb was forced to go in that direction as well as the pulled pork sandwich she wanted was unavailable due to impacted meat shipments from the covid issues. After the meal we retreated to the safety of the condo away from the crowds. All the official fireworks shows had been cancelled but one. We decided we would waited for another time when the world has settled back to normal.
Tomorrow we begin the packing and planning for the road home. So we won't have much to say about tomorrow. Monday morning we hit the road. The planning has us getting back Sat the 11th. How much internet access we will have is unknown. If I have reasonable access along the way I will post an update.
Travel safely and enjoy the journey home. 😊
